Peru envisages financial support to the ecuadorian Yasuni project

Minister of Heritage, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, announced today that Peru envisages financial support to the Yasuni-ITT project.

Amount has not yet been revealed by the Peruvian government, but an official announcement is expected in the next days.

President Garcia has openly expressed his interest for the Yasuni initiative and he became indeed one of the main spokesmen to promote the contribution of other governments.

The minister also announced that crises in the Middle East are delaying the Yasuni project because the Ecuadoran government was hoping to receive support from some Middle Eastern countries, such as the United Arab Emirates.

The hope of reaching the $ 100 million before the end of the year is not lost. Currently, the Yasuni project has collected 36 993 496-dollar total in international financial contributions.
